I love when an email starts like this: “Hi James – I have been following your work for awhile now on social media, as you shoot a lot of our customers – great work by the way!”
It’s not the “great work” that I love (although I do) but more importantly the “I have been following your work”.
I have a saying to those I have given marketing and business advice to over the years ~ “What you do today will get you work 2 years from now.” I have proven this statement dozens of times.
Not everyone is ready for your services the moment they see your name or marketing materials but if they see your brand enough times, when the time comes they will knock on your door. This is why it’s key to be consistent with your marketing, especially on social media.

The grass was still wet from the morning dew and the fog was starting to lift as the sun was peeking through. (no rhyme intended). A quiet morning in the outdoors while creating environmental images for Impala.

I always love to see my images on the walls.
I have said it once and I will say it again, images are only good if they are used. Showcasing your companies people within your marketing will only enhance the story you are trying to tell. People take notice when it’s people they know.

Sometimes if the background environment is cluttered and distracts from the subject, I will change my camera angle. Always check your surroundings first before you press the shutter button to make sure the environment is competing with the subject matter.

The images I create are an investment to the company and the companies marketing. Each image has the potential to be used across the media spectrum that reaches their different demographic targets within that platform. When I create images for a company, it’s of their employees, their facilities, their products and services. These images are proprietary to them and therefor convey their message with more relatability.
I have walked tradeshows where I have seen the same stock image used throughout multiple companies, I have watched 60 minute power point presentations with next to zero imagery (this is a WHOLE OTHER DISCUSSION lol) and I have had calls from magazine editors asking for images as the company they are featuring doesn’t have any. Photography is a key component to marketing and marketing is a key component to business, always has and hopefully always will be.
