“I will give you my best work every time with a work ethic that is respected by my clients and peers.” ~ James Hodgins
The images I create are client specific and showcase the companies products, people, environment, who they are and what they do. These visuals are used throughout the companies marketing platforms merged with stunning graphics, design layouts as well as storytelling content from the client.
On this page I discuss what types of images you should have within your library and how my clients are utilizing the images for maximum exposure in the mining industrial industry.
My work ethic is my business and I hold myself to the highest safety standards as well as those I photograph. Safety is always number one while on site. Companies and staff work hard to build a safe working environment, the same environment I will be working in so I try to capture that with each image as well as maintaining a perfect safety record.
A single photography session can achieve an image library with a variety of content that can be used throughout your marketing platforms. If I am on site for a few days or visiting your industrial shop for a few hours I can create a custom image library spanning across several different key areas within your operation. Each area that we (as a team) decide to photograph has key image content that should be highlighted in your company branding and marketing materials. Below are a few small examples of an image library I have created for specific clients. Each library is unique to the mining industrial client and the images are not sold for stock photography to third party companies.

What should be included in your image library?
Within your image library you want to focus on the key fundamentals within your “product”. The main criteria to start with is – how it’s made, who is making it, where they are using it and who is using it. Images should be updated to reflect the current times as well as safety protocols. There is such a thing as “being outdated” and with photography it can easily be apparent within the mining industrial industry. I do recommend updating your image library a minimum of every 2 years or sooner.
Manufactured, Processing Or Industrial Services
If you manufacture equipment or products , provide a specialized service, process data or material, it is ideal to showcase the product/service/equipment within the environment as well as photographing the technicians, sales associates and operators. This gives the prospective client more insight into the quality of your company by not having to visualize it themselves.

For Mine Sites
I try to break it down to the different stages of of the mining process and your library should have a few images from each stage to start with.
Exploration – Geologists, surveying, core shack operations.

Environmental – water treatment (indoors and outdoor), reclamation, regreening, sustainability and environmental monitoring.

Mining Life – Above and below ground, mining equipment in use, new technology in the workplace, maintenance, safety, scenics and people. (Click to view)
Custom professional photography is more than just capturing the content, it’s using the environment to draw the viewers attention to a specific part of the image. Leading lines and negative space are considered for graphics and text. Pre-emptive thought to composition, lighting and subject matter as well as use in marketing materials is considered well before the capture.
You can have a great image but if it doesn’t fit into the marketing design or graphic layout due to orientation or cropping the image use could be very limited. (Click to view)
On average a single professional image can be used 9 times within a company marketing plan. I can potentially produce a dozen or more high quality images throughout a single day on site. That one image costs less than purchasing a high resolution stock image which means you have a larger return on investment using my professional services. Branding your professional company spreads across multiple on-line and tangible platforms in which visuals are the key marketing content for the company. These platforms include:
Below is a small example of the many uses how my clients have utilized the images I have created for them.
Please note that the initial photography was created by me but design, graphics and layouts were created via the companies marketing team.

I strive to make every image unique to my client and I will work to the best of my abilities to make the Mining Photog Experience one that rivals in work ethic, safety and quality.
“We have used James for his mining photography skills on numerous occasions now for the past 5 years and every single time I am surprised by the quality of the product that he produces at the end of the specific project. He is a pleasure to deal with as a human being and on all fronts I highly recommend his services.”
