Now is the time.
When you want images that depict summer months then summer months are the best time to create them. The leaves are green, the foliage is in bloom and the summer hours offer more daylight to capture the outdoors. We have only a few months left before Fall changes the landscape and therefore the images we create.
All things aligned during my last session at Pure Gold www.puregoldmining.ca, warm weather, sunshine, and a great crew of employees to capture.

Congratulations to Pure Gold Mining Inc (www.puregoldmining.com) on their successful first gold pour. It truly has been a great experience for me to watch and photograph the different stages of the mine development.

With just a couple of quick visits to the Pure Gold Mining Madsen Project I created a wide variety of images that they have used (and using) in their marketing materials as well as their social media platforms like Linkedin and Instagram. With such a wide variety of images (underground mining, core shack, exploration, environmental) they now have high impact images to accompany any editorial materials where a good photographic image is needed. It’s been great to see these images accompanying write ups on sites like Canadian Mining Journal, Northern Ontario Business, and The Drift.
I look forward to visiting their site again to create new images but with the abundance of custom images they already have it might be awhile lol.
When I am faced with a tight working environment I need to strategically place my lights to illuminate the areas that are dark or in shadow like this image I created for www.puregoldmining.ca Madsen Project in Red Lake Ontario. Just like bright over exposed areas, dark empty spaces bring attention to the viewers eye and away from the subject so illuminating specific key areas to highlight subjects and leading lines is always my goal for standard operator images.
My Client www.puregoldmining.ca was recently featured in www.northernontariobusiness.com. Pure Gold has some amazing individuals behind it and I enjoyed my time on site creating images for their branding and marketing materials. I look forward to their progress and success as well as future photo projects with them.
While I was underground in Red Lake last month with www.puregoldmining.ca I photographed this Atlas Copco Rocket Boomer Jumbo as it was making its way to the face.
There is just something about this image. As I type this I still cant figure out why this image intrigues me. I have captured 1000’s of images underground over the years but as I was setting up my gear today at Pure Gold’s Madsen site I turned around and there it was. I had to capture it. It’s simple. Two miners having a conversation while they wait for the photographer. I told them to ignore me for a few minutes and I quickly added a little illumination so that my camera could record the scene as the conversation continued. To the photographer, this is gold.
