From SmartCone ~ The picture below shows Jason (CEO) and Robert (COO) Lee operating a mining vehicle in a workzone. SmartCone’s RedZone Proximity System has detected us and is flashing lights for safety. This a very simple and basic function of the SmartCone Ecosystem. Behind the scenses, the SmartCone Edge Computing System provides a high accuracy positioning grid that can integrate with asset tracking, LiDAR Scanning, Autonomous Vehicle Operations and more.

Possibly one of the most costly expenses in the industry without efficient mining tires the operations would come to a standstill. Just like on our own personal vehicles tire pressure can effect the efficiency of the vehicle as well as fuel/energy consumption. Active monitoring and regular inspections can decrease expenses as well as maintaining a safe working environment for the vehicle operator and site personnel
On Dec. 6, 1907 in Monongah, WV, an explosion underground killed 362 miners making it the worst mining disaster in US history. I am thankful that today our standards in mine safety is a top priority that is discussed implemented and enforced and my thoughts are with all who have had lives taken away from them and their families.
The mind set of working safe IMO starts at the home. If you take all the necessary precautions to be safe while working you are more likely going to take that mindset to the workplace. It’s as simple as wearing safety gloves while while trimming the tree. Just kidding, but it is as simple as wearing safety gloves while cutting down your tree or chopping wood, raking leaves leaves etc. Thanks to Mine Safety Solutions for my early xmas present, they fit like a glove.
They are the faces you know and you hope you never have to see in action. ~ Mine Rescue
I had the opportunity to photograph some new Rock Bolt technology from the National Research Council of Canada. Pictured here is the monitoring station used to collect the data from the advanced rock bolts. The rock bolts are equipped with senors that can detect the slightest movement of the rock they are placed in. What does this mean? It means safety. Being able to detect seismic activity at an early stage can increase the response time to addressing the issue. Just a friendly reminder. People count on you. Your family, your friends, your co-workers. Everyone counts on everyone to be mindful of their surroundings. Be safe today so that you can be there tomorrow.
I will have custom posters available soon if anyone wishes to purchase one for their job site. #minesafety #miningphotog
I think this message applies to anyone and everyone.
A couple of months ago I had the opportunity to create images for HomeSafe ( a new safety program Vale recently launched in the Ontario Operations). It was amazing to see so many people come together to help create the final video and marketing materials for this one of kind safety program. Hats off to my buddy Ryan for some great cinematography and www.overtheatlantic.com and Conway Fraser www.frasertorosay.com for bringing it all together. Also, let’s not forget Amanda Brosseau for keeping us all inline throughout this whole experience. I enjoyed photographing each participant and spending time with each of their families. This video really hit home.
I invite you to watch it and see for yourselves. Click here and watch the first video on the page
