This gentleman is what I call the “keeper of the Kiln” as he tends to the furnace while it rotates throughout the day at the Menchin Mine in Maracás Brazil. A few clicks and then we had to back away from the kiln as the hot air was blowing out the furnace door. Just a few of the many images I created for www.largoresources.com last week while I was on site.
It’s not what I think, but what my clients think. The one thing I can promise you – I will always strive to give you my best work from what I have to work with, I guarantee it. I have put my face and name behind my business and I aim to keep them both at the highest level of professionalism I can achieve.
I created this quick portrait of Kaija yesterday after we finished a shoot for one of our mutual clients Northern Survery Supply. Kaija creates custom content for their social media platforms via www.socialriseagency.com I met Kaija last month and we discussed the importance of good content accompanied with good photography can make a big difference in a companies branding and social media influence. I enjoyed working alongside her yesterday and look forward to future content creating sessions.
When I am creating custom images for my mining clients I know beforehand what media the images will be used for, how they will be used and for the most part, how they will be incorporated into the design of the marketing material. The subject of the photo whether that is a process, product or person should be easily and quickly identified. I do this by using leading lines, lighting and composition while leaving enough space for my clients to add copy (text) as well as other graphics. There is a lot of thought that goes into these types of images before the shutter is pressed and all the variables need to be known beforehand in order to create the most effective for the final product.
“James Hodgins is a highly professional photographer that has always delivered great images of both our mining equipment products and our employees. It has always been a pleasure to work with James and would highly recommend his work.”

I strive to create the most dynamic images within every situation I am presented with while on site. I try to create a photography experience that is professional and productive so that my clients know they are receiving images that will be an asset to their companies branding and marketing materials.
I created custom images for Equipment North to showcase some of their top rentals. Photographing the equipment underground has far more photographic value to their marketing materials than grabbing a snapshot of it in the parking lot. Not only have they used these images in their product brochures, but they have also placed them on their website, trade show booths and social media.
They are eye-catching bright orange and look like a safety glove for Robocop. My new MSS gloves from www.minesafetysolutions.ca came in handy at the www.rahnment.com industrial shop this week while I was there creating images for www.shout-media.ca. After I was finished the shoot Thomas asked if he could try out the gloves so I created a few product images to showcase the durability of these digit protectors while he was working. It was a win-win scenario. I get to create an image to say thank you to MSS, Rahnment has another image to use in their marketing material.
