Sometimes if the background environment is cluttered and distracts from the subject, I will change my camera angle. Always check your surroundings first before you press the shutter button to make sure the environment is competing with the subject matter.

Getting a good image of the CNC machine is sometimes tricky considering most of the process is done behind closed doors but you can always get creative in the placement of your camera during the setup process before the doors are closed.
Yesterday I spent the day at one of the Bristol Machine Shops in Sudbury with Epiroc photographing the different stages of the refurbishing process that Bristol meticulously provides. Days. I could spend days in this shop photographing the people, products and machines being used simultaneously throughout the day. Epiroc products displayed before and after the refurb process catch my eye over and over as we had our walkabout before I started my session. I have said this before and I will say it again, there is “art” everywhere in machine shops if you look for it and I will display some in my upcoming posts when I get the go ahead form my client.
I scour the internet, I search the trade magazines, social media and marketing materials and I always come across the cellsnap images being used for promoting. Now there is nothing wrong with this, heck I do it myself with my Cellsnap series but there is a time and place for those types of images. For everyday social media posts sure, but for your marketing materials? I think not. I also have a personal rule when it comes to social media marketing and using photos. 1 (one) professional image to every 5.
