My last session of 2020 was with MacLean Engineering at their R&D Facility creating images of this BEV Shotcrete Sprayer. Among many features, the field of view through the cab window was something that stood out and I thought of an angle that would easily showcase it.
E&MJ Magazine (Engineering And Mining Journal) features a great article called “The Year Mining Went Electric” by Carly Leonida including a few images from MacLean Engineering.

I’ll be 1 more minute.
When I take the last group shot image to wrap up the shoot I will hold off just a little while longer and “pretend” to be modifying the camera settings remotely away from the tripod. I will click off a few “test” images while the group is still chatting. These usually yield natural conversation images.

Over the years I have gone through a large variety of cases to hold my gear and all have eventually perished one way or another over time considering the environments I bring them to. I have been eyeing this Nanuk 965 case for awhile now for my international travels and I finally got it in my hands last month. I prefer rolling cases for my gear (as does my assistant) for ease of movement as well as the multiple handle locations throughout the case. Yesterday we finally got to load all the gear into it and bring it out on the job for the first time. I am looking forward to adding to my collection………….as does my assistant lol. Check out these Canadian made cases at www.nanuk.com
If your going to be in writing have the quality of images worthy of a cover. This months issue of Diesel Progress Magazine (www.dieselprogress.com) features the innovative Relay BEV from Miller Technology with electric drive systems lead developer Paul Summers behind the wheel.
I photographed the Relay in the Miller Industrial shop a few years back and then recently again in it’s working environment underground at the Young Davidson mine here in Northern Ontario. We created a good variety of key marketable images during that session with some of them featured within the issue’s write up.

“Hey, I know that image.” So I am googling my clients and industry news when I come across an image for the latest of issue of Resource World Magazine with an image I created for SSR Mining (via www.pendaproductions.com) at their Sea Bee mine in Northern Saskatchewan. Having an updated image archive of your operations, people and processes makes it simple to provide good quality photography to the industry publications and websites.
Most people will never see the true scale of innovation, technology, safety and sustainability the mining industry encompasses. I have been fortunate enough to create images that showcase the mining world above and below the earth as well as the people whose lives are dedicated to it’s success. There is so much of this industry I have yet to see and photograph as it is continuously evolving and this is what pushes me to get to the next level of creativity.
My client www.macleanengineering.com sent me an email notifying me that an image I created for them is now on the cover for the December issue of Engineering & Mining Journal www.e-mj.com . Photographed underground at the Bracemac-McLeod Mine in Northern Quebec, Canada.
