An industrial welder starts the task of repairing a dozer. When it comes to maintenance bays, the emptier the better.

Inspection of your teeth is not just in the comfort of your own home. Letting a tooth wear for too long on your bucket will decrease your machines digging performance and may even lead to excess wear on the edge of the bucket.

I have heard several people complain on how hot it is this Summer………………………but there is hot………….and then there is HOT!. The Glow from the furnace put out enough ambient light for that warm glow but I needed just a little kiss of flash to balance the rest of the image.

Today I had the brief opportunity to photograph Vale’s West Mines Mine Rescue Team in action at the 2016 International Mine Rescue Competition #IMRC (that’s a lot of use of the word “mine”). Although I cannot share the photos just yet I can however share this one. Congratulations to the team on an excellent performance (my opinion).

You can see more images and updates at the #IMRC Facebook Page
Bruno and Frank use a Leica Multistation to map out the face. As a photographer I was quite please to see the name “Leica” as any photographer will tell you Leica means quality. Useless fact #327 – I was going to name my first cat Leica but settled with “Bogen” – I tripod manufacturer.

The Hives are buzzing on this reclamated site that once looked desolate and barren but now the growth of thick vegetation stretches as far as the eye can see. Honey bee’s are used to pollinate the area to ensure the natural growth.

Today I got out to photograph some of Vale’s land reclamation in Sudbury. This is another aspect of the mining industrial world that I just love. To see the before and after is truly amazing. These areas were filled with Oats that are (in some areas) almost over my head. Walking through them I thought about the opening scene in Gladiator where Russel Crowe had his hand brushing over the grass, so I thought. Why not.

Sorry I have not been around lately, but things got a bit hectic the last few weeks with “Holidays” and such. With all the heat we have this week it’s almost better to be underground than it is topside. Looking forward to getting back into the swing of things and sharing my exploits in the vast world of Mining Industrial.

A few weeks ago I photographed the Rockbreaker CX8 in all it’s glory! Images from the shoot will be used for their website, social media and marketing materials. I look forward to photographing the other members of the fleet.
