Here is an image I created while shooting underground in Matachewan Ontario for Dumas Inc. Sometimes it’s a tight space, sometimes it isn’t but obtaining the right composition and angle to draw your eye to main subject is always a must.

The Vale East Mine Rescue Team are off to Poland tomorrow to compete in the 9th International Mines Rescue Competition next week. The team took top honors in June at the 64th annual Provincial Mine Rescue Competition in Timmins and also the Sudbury District Competition in May.
It was exciting to photograph the team in action in May and also during a live demonstration today at Stobie Mine. I wish the best for the team in this next competition and I look forward to photographing them with the trophy. GOOD LUCK GUYS!!!
At the heart of the Mining City of Sudbury lies freshwater lakes, flourishing trees and tourist attractions. It’s a far cry from the “black rock” city Sudbury used to be known for. I highly suggest Sudburians to take a flight over their city to view it from a different perspective. Luckily I get to do this a few times each year while scoping out some new fishing spots.

While on a shoot today I came across this John Deere Excavator all alone with nobody to play with.
You simply have to add your own lighting to bring out the details and have a proper exposure throughout the image, or you can wait until the right time of day using the sun as the main light source (which I did here). It's not easy to make things like this interesting but that is what I love about the challenges of Mine Photography.
A lone underground driller methodically advances the drillbit into the rockface. To underground drillers, this is their office……..and solitary confinement.
