Last month I had the opportunity to visit Vale’s Port Colborne Nickel Refinery. Unfortunately I didn’t get to spend a lot of time photographing all the processes but I am looking forward to photographing the remainder sometime this year.

With the high humidity and the salt water spray coming off the ocean beside the site regular maintenance is a high priority as it should be on all sites.

When the mining site is in the middle of nowhere most maintenance problems are fixed right on site. Tires like this one are often repaired in minutes so the haul trucks can get back on the road and continue production. When the tires can no longer be safely used on the site, they are put to use in other manners. Some filled with sand and used as corner barriers on the road. Locals will also remove the remaining tread from tires and use the rubber for brake pads on their bikes or soles for their shoes.

IT’S SHERP FEVER!!!! Yup, I have Sherp Fever after a test drive to see what the Sherp can do!. Let’s just say it can do A LOT! ANYWHERE!. Coniston Industrial Park is now the Northern Ontario Dealer where you will be able inspect, test drive, rent and purchase this Titan of an ATV. That’s all I can say for now but I did grab a quick shot before I left. Stay tuned for more images with some upcoming Sherp capability shoots for Coniston Industrial Park.
