When I am on a *”walkabout” I still try to incorporate some creativity within those captures even though they are gone within a few seconds. I never know what I will capture next but that is what is exciting about the job.
* a walkabout in my terms is when I am on site driving/walking around capturing the day to day. I don’t know what I will be capturing and whatever happens happens, nothing is planned.

From SmartCone ~ The picture below shows Jason (CEO) and Robert (COO) Lee operating a mining vehicle in a workzone. SmartCone’s RedZone Proximity System has detected us and is flashing lights for safety. This a very simple and basic function of the SmartCone Ecosystem. Behind the scenses, the SmartCone Edge Computing System provides a high accuracy positioning grid that can integrate with asset tracking, LiDAR Scanning, Autonomous Vehicle Operations and more.

Throw back with x-Glo North America Inc. photographing, learning and installing the x-Glo Led strip lighting system. I can always tell when x-Glo lighting is installed, as a photographer the more light underground the better lol.

Light is light. I have said this for years and my mentor said this years before that. It doesn’t matter what type of light we use, it all does the same thing in the end. The “mastery” of it comes from years of practice, playing, manipulating and controlling it. Intensity, direction and form are three qualities of light I “focus” on for every image. How much light to use, what direction do I want it to come from and how soft do I want it look on my subjects all depends on what I have to photography, where I have to photograph it, and how much time do I have to complete it.

No matter what the task at hand is there is always a way to capture it besides the obvious and the core shack is a great place to change things up.

Recently photographed the Komatsu WX07 within the underground for Komatsu’s hard rock mining division. Among the few dozen images I created which included the overall unit, components and special features, having the unit moving material is always the perfect stand alone capture.
