Once I am at the location to be photographed I will setup my equipment and then discuss the different scenarios that are needed to be photographed for my client. For each scenario I will have to formulate a shooting angle and then light that specific scene to draw attention to the specified areas. In some cases I will have to create multiple images with different lighting to be merged into one final image due to limitations to the area we are shooting and safety protocols .

Sometimes while I am setting up my equipment for my next shot my subjects will continue working by discussing tasks at hand. When this happens, I will quickly adjust my equipment to accommodate the scenario and click away. Most of the time they don’t even know I am a capturing the scene.
Every once in awhile I will have the opportunity to pair two clients into one image. While I was in Val-d’Or Quebec creating images for MacLean Engineering we visited Eldorado Gold’s Lamaque site to capture some underground images with the equipment. I was recently with Eldorado Gold in Greece (with Penda Productions) this past June and had a wonderful experience at their sites just as I knew I would here at the Lamaque Site as the Eldorado Crew is fantastic to work with. We managed to create some excellent images showcasing both companies in their environment and I am thankful to both companies for allowing me to create images of their sites, people and equipment.
It was Sumit’s first time underground here at the Eldorado Lamaque Site and I was glad to be able to join my MacLean’s Rep on his first journey to the underworld. After our day photographing some of the MacLean fleet I had to take a few moments and create his first underground portrait.
Well I am on the road to Quebec to go underground with MacLean Engineering again to visit the Eldorado Gold Lamaque site. The last time I visited Val’dor Quebec we were at the Bracemac-Mcleod mine where I photographed this LR3 Boom Lift.
As I was waiting to be taken to the next underground location I took a few minutes to capture this MacLean Bolter with an 8 second exposure and a small LED light that I used to illuminate the back end.
We are almost done our first month of 2018 and most of us are back in the Captains chair restructuring, organizing and implementing new business strategies for the year. These next few months are filled with industry trade shows and conventions where companies will showcase their products, processes and fabrications to wide eyed prospectors and investors. This is where I come in. A well executed image in your trade show booth and marketing materials can increase engagement from your prospects. Just google “why you should include images in your marketing materials” and browse a few websites. My clients know the value of custom photography. Photographing their employees and equipment instead of using stock images solidifies the confidence that the company believes in their products and people which is why I do what I do. Like the below image I created while on assignment for www.macleanengineering.com . It was a great day underground where I got the chance to create some great portraits and high impact images which Maclean still uses in their marketing force including their website, twitter and linkedin media.
Recently I found myself at Glencore’s Nickel Rim South Mine photographing another of Maclean Engineering’s Electric Fleet. I am always thrilled to create images for Macleans and I was even more thrilled to finally find my way underground at Nickel Rim where I was pleasantly surprised by the organization and cleanliness of the mine (yes, I notice everything). While electric vehicles are starting to become more and more popular in the mining industry, testing all the applications and variables for maximum efficiency is still the key factors in R & D. I was just browsing through the latest edition of Canadian Mining Journal and happily came across another instance where images I have created are being used in Industry Articles. It’s no surprise as Maclean Engineering are actively using the images for social media, marketing and obviously trade magazines. I just couldn’t picture this article having the same impact if it was taken with the Supervisors Cell phone.
