This Newalta worker checks the clarity of the waste water as it is going through the purification process. Starting out with muddy, brackish liquid the water is now clear enough to see through.

Small amounts of the finished refined product are tested for quality and the degree of purity after it has been processed through the filtration system.
A refinery supervisor overlooks the first stage of the tailings pond, one of three ponds on the property. Tailing ponds are areas of refused mining tailings where the waterborne refuse material is pumped into a pond to allow the sedimentation (meaning separation) of solid particles from the water. When the process is completet the purified water can thus be reused in the processing cycle. The tailings from this facility are from actual tailings where minerals were further removed due to advancement in technology.
Safety is something that I take very seriously when on a job site, and for good reason too. I may not be a Miner or Industrial worker but I am in some of the same environments facing some of the same hazards. From on top of cranes or down in holes and trenches the possibility for something to go wrong is always present. That is why I am constantly taking training courses on safety so that I can remain safe on the job site. Today I just finished my Confine Space course along with the Fall Arrest Module, 2 places where I could find myself in the near future again. Being prepared is the best measure to keep myself, and my contracted company safe.
Here is another image I created for Atlas Copco and their Mine Truck 1520 (that they uniquely refurbish). This image will be used in their upcoming marketing materials and powerpoint presentations. After viewing the presentation this past week I must admit having the professional images in there does add some impact and weight to the message and information presented. Of course I might be a little biased LOL. They could have easily taken their own images with their cameras and phones, and they have….they told me so…. but they no the value of good images especially images that are representing the companies product. The better the image, the better the more powerful the message. Can either of them work without the other? Of course they can, but when there is a balance the end result is more receptive.

The Mining Industrial Industry expands far greater than drilling rocks from the ground. Mining chemicals are an important part of the process, and are necessary for mineral recovery. When documenting the processes of a company I'm not always underground or dealing with heavy machinery. A lot of the times you will see me in the laboratories doning my white cloak, glasses, and usually a confused look on my face as the processes are, for the most part, very complex.
Another image from the "Shop People" project. The response to these images are very positive as most people do not have a good quality image of what they do or who they are outside of their home life. Images like these are great for the company as they will use them in their marketing material, websites and in house newsletters. It's also a great way for a company to show employee appreciation.
