Here is a throw back session from 2008 creating images for the Cambrian College Dental Program here in Sudbury Ontario. I have created hundreds of images for their program guide and view book over the years and each session is always fun with the friends I have made there.
Creating this image for the Cambrian College Trades program took a bit of time to setup but only a few seconds to capture. I wanted to show the movement of the hustle ‘n’ bustle of the shop as students were in and out of the frame but keep the focus on the CNC Machine and the operator. Strategic lighting throughout the shop and a slow shutter speed pulled it all together.

Sometimes, the tripod just doesn’t go high enough, and if it did my height still is a factor. Fortunately when you surround yourself with friends, help is always close at hand. I still create images for some of my commercial clients over the years. I have created images for www.cambriancollege.ca viewbook for over a decade now and each year the Cambrian creative team come up with new scenarios that I try to capture. With this paramedic scene I just couldn’t get back far enough without bringing in more support and time was becoming a factor for this shoot. Luckily my buddy Franco stepped up and lent a helping hand (or two)
Last week I found myself once again in the industrial shops at Cambrian College www.cambriancollege.ca . I have been photographing the different departments, staff and facilities at Cambrian for years and the images I create are used throughout the college, website and career book. My photography career started at Cambrian College over 25 years ago when I found myself taking a photography darkroom course to add a few credits to my year. Little did I know that it would eventually lead me to a lifelong career behind the camera.
Along with my Mining, Industrial & Corporate Clients I also create image content for many Colleges and Universities to be used in their Course Calendars, website and marketing materials.
Awhile back I had the opportunity to photograph Cambrian College’s Lil’ Big Rig here in Sudbury, so on a early cloudy morning we “trucked” it out to Dynamic Earth where I could throw my spin on creating a Bad Ass Image that this machine deserves.
