Using a longer exposure to capture this refinery smooths out the steam and enhances the facilities lighting creating a more dramatic effect.
Of all things I love photographing on the mine site the Jumbo drill takes the cake (until I get to photograph a bucket wheel excavator). For this image below I used a little back lighting to draw more attention to the operator than to the boom arms. This photo was created for Dumas at the Young Davidson Mine in Matachewan.
