A Race Between Welding & Weather
It was a race against mother nature to get this dragline excavator back up and running. The morning clouds were rolling in fast and our available light got darker and darker as the minutes passed.

From a distance they don’t seem intimidating at all but as you get closer you realize that distance has a way of skewing perspective and ratio. Dragline excavators are giants in the mining industry. Simply look at the staircase and door on the side of this titan, you could easily fit my whole house inside of this mammoth.
I always come across images from past shoots that I like to resurrect again with a little modification. It could be from Vertical to Horizontal, a different angle/composition of the same scene or maybe even a slight change to the facial expression of my subject. The last time I was in Popular River Saskatchewan I photographed the PRMX 6973 Locomotive which at the time was carrying coal from Popular River to SaskPower’s power plant 19 KM away.
