Before this Kovatera unit left the shop I had the chance to photograph the Kovatera MC100 here in Sudbury before it was shipped off to Western Canada. (https://www.minecat.com/)

Everything on the mine site has a strong sense of cohesion. Above ground or below each area works together to complete the overall mining process. With the Summer months coming I am looking forward to getting back outdoors (above ground) on sites to capture more of the above ground process. So far the Summer is looking Grand.
I had a dream last night that I was working and I needed a wide angle lens only to find my 85mm and 50mm in my camera bag and nothing else. I immediately started to problem solve thinking I will do some creative close ups but then I woke up. Even now I am thinking “what would I have done if that actually happened?” A big part of the job is planning ahead and having all the necessary tools to do the job. I often get emails and messages asking me what lens is the best for photography or how many lights do I use when I am on site. I honestly reply that I don’t know, it all depends on what I am photographing and what the client expects. It is usually the same scenarios but different environments. Rule of thumb for me is, always have more equipment than what you need as well as a backup set of everything.
What does the above post have to do with this image? Nothing, I had something else written out, but that dream overrode my thought process this morning lol
Pure Gold Geologist underground in Red Lake. The utility in the background added enough light to outline Jillian from the rock wall.

We were nearing the end of the last day of shooting, the clouds rolled in and the light was fading fast so we coordinated this image to finish of the day. Looking forward to our return this Summer to create more images for Impala’s Library.
For this image there were a few slight adjustments made to get the specific perspective as well as the proper composition for your eyes to remain on the focal point. Done correctly a photographer can draw your attention to any part of an image, This is a key strategy for any image used for marketing. Subject, focal point, retention.

ITH Longhole driller
After capturing this pullback image showcasing the driller, area and equipment. I then captured more specific images of each element within the environment (stay tuned).

It’s not all about the big equipment and rock movers, Construction, transport and supply delivery is all part of the daily workings of a mine.
