End of Day
The last image I captured during a First Responders session in North West Territories. The sun was dropping fast but it still worked out in our favor.

The Ontario Mine Rescue competition 2022 is taking place this June, the first time since it’s last in 2019 due to the pandemic. I have documented a few in the past years and it’s amazing to see the talents from each team up close.

We were nearing the end of the last day of shooting, the clouds rolled in and the light was fading fast so we coordinated this image to finish of the day. Looking forward to our return this Summer to create more images for Impala’s Library.
I was approached to photograph the 2014 Ontario Mine Rescue Competition which was being held at a local arena. I knew it was going to be face paced at times and that I would have to use minimal gear to capture the event. Even though it was a simulation being on the floor with the teams was intense and I knew I wanted to capture that feeling in my images. I tried to focus on each moment as it happened and capture an image that told part of the story. It was a great experience to capture and watch and I congratulate and thank all those that are involved in our Mine Rescue Services.
They are the faces you know and you hope you never have to see in action. ~ Mine Rescue
Today I had the brief opportunity to photograph Vale’s West Mines Mine Rescue Team in action at the 2016 International Mine Rescue Competition #IMRC (that’s a lot of use of the word “mine”). Although I cannot share the photos just yet I can however share this one. Congratulations to the team on an excellent performance (my opinion).
You can see more images and updates at the #IMRC Facebook Page
Good luck to all the Sudbury Mine Rescue Teams competing in the Ontario Mine Rescue Competition today. Teams from Sudbury Ontario include Vale West Mines, Vale East Mines, KGHM, and Glencore Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations. Visit Imrc2016.ca for more information. #imrc2016
I had the honor of photographing the Sudbury Mine Rescue District Competition that took place at the Lively Arena back in 2014.
As I have photographed at the Norcat Mining Facility here in Sudbury Ontario as well as photographed the Mine Rescue Competition in the past I think they both will compliment each other in this dynamic event starting June 6th.

Congratulations to the members of the Vale Mine Rescue Team who competed in the recent Mine Rescue Competition Held at Sudbury's South Mine.
During the exercise five-member teams had to extinguish a fire, find missing miners – including rescuing one being crushed by a rolling garage door and another overcome by smoke – and treat their injuries. These rescues were conducted “under oxygen” (using self-contained rebreathing apparatus) underground. They also used rope apparatus to rescue a collapsed welder from a basket at the end of an elevated crane. (from http://www.masha.on.ca)
