The Komatsu WX07 (2 into one image), I was going to post both but figured I would edit them into one. These are from a series of images we created for Komatsu Mining last year at the NORCAT Training Facility.

It‘s the first Monday of the first of 2022 so lets get back at by showcasing what we do best. If you already didn’t know, I create high impact photography for the mining industrial industry. The image below is part of a series that was created for Komatsu Mining featuring their WX07 LHD – https://www.komatsu.com/en/products/underground-hard-rock-haulage/lhd/wx07/

Recently photographed the Komatsu WX07 within the underground for Komatsu’s hard rock mining division. Among the few dozen images I created which included the overall unit, components and special features, having the unit moving material is always the perfect stand alone capture.

When it comes to using images for marketing materials just any o’l image wont do. There needs to be some balance between the image and the copy. Negative space is required to add text and graphics and if the composition of the image doesn’t work then the marketing material will not reach it’s full potential.
Having an end goal when creating images is always in my mind when I am looking through my viewfinder and creating the space needed within the frame is just one of many goals for each image.
But it’s a sexy haul truck. At least that is how I look at it. I have photographed a wide variety of haul trucks over the years and yes they can all look the same but when they are in their environment they take on a different form. This all comes down to being at the right place at the right time. I didn’t just “see” this image, I waited for it to happen. I knew the route, I saw the lighting peak under the clouds and I positioned myself so that the sunlight cross lit the truck as it was making it’s turn.
“James Hodgins is a highly professional photographer that has always delivered great images of both our mining equipment products and our employees. It has always been a pleasure to work with James and would highly recommend his work.”
